Rear ARB Torsion Bar

Purpose

React the difference in travel between the two rear wheels, raising rear roll rate and moving lateral load transfer distribution rearward.

Function

A tube twisting in torsion between the two actuating blades. Its torsional stiffness acts in series with the blade bending stiffness, so the total contribution to roll rate is set by both. Design Philosophies and Processes: Sized so that the nominal middle blade setting reproduces CR22's maximum rear ARB stiffness, with adjustment available in both directions from there.

Analysis

Contribution to roll rate at nominal: 1160 lb-in/deg, which is 96.7 lb-ft/deg. Front roll rate 213.89 lb-ft/deg, rear 298.79 lb-ft/deg.
