The remaining vehicle sensors that do not belong to a specific control function.
Includes the Bosch MM5.10 IMU ($994, CAN at 1 Mbaud, onboard signal conditioning, three units received through Bosch Motorsport sponsorship), the Bosch LWS steering angle sensor ($172, CAN at 500 kbaud, calibrated over CAN using the steering wheel), and the fluid temperature thermistors (RaceGrade RG.SN.5022 at $55 for radiator inlet/outlet and engine oil, Rife DTM 53-1000 at $69 for oil cooler inlet/outlet in a gauge-port style fitting where a traditional thermistor would interfere with flow).
Sensor selection is the most collaborative part of electrical design, requiring input from the designer who needs the data on both location and sensor type. CR22 moved deliberately toward motorsport-intended sensors, replacing a Honeywell PX3AN2BS100PAAAX with a RaceGrade M APT G2 DTM 150G for fuel and oil pressure.
CR22 Issue Log, 2023-08-26, Electrical. The right radiator inlet temperature sensor read 195 C. The cause was a wire crushed between the right radiator top tab and its mount, found by depinning the connector after checking for shorts at both ends. The branch was cut back before the crushed section and the sub-harness lengthened.
Nothing in CrimsonStorage covers these yet.
