Dash Panel Assembly

Subteam: ChassisSubsystem: ErgonomicsAssembly: Dash Panel AssemblyCars: CR21, CR22, CR25, CR26I, CR26E

Purpose

Assembly line covering the dash panel and everything mounted on it.

Function

Groups the dash panel, sling, display, switches, indicator light and brake bias knob.

Design Process

No part-specific design process is documented. The Ergonomics subsystem design process applies: 1. Take driver body measurements and place them against the ergonomics study ranges. 2. Mold the seat insert to the driver in the car with expanding foam, then hand post-process and cover. 3. Set headrest and harness mounting to the rules and to the driver's shoulder height. 4. Run a simulator or on-track endurance stint and measure fatigue with EMG. 5. Iterate the insert shape at the identified pressure and support points.

Manufacturing Process

Waterjet from sheet, or laid up on a milled or 3D printed mold.

Full Material List

CFRP, or aluminium sheet.

Reoccuring issues

Fault Vault, 2025-05-17, CR25: the engine run switch sat in range of the driver's hands at steering lock. The engine run and fan switch positions were swapped.
