Moving off the OEM oil-to-water arrangement allows a higher oil temperature limit, because oil is no longer constrained by the boiling point of water. Water boils at 126 C at system pressure; the absolute oil temperature limit is 140 C.
Rejects 21.5 hp at a 131 C inlet temperature, with an 11 C temperature drop across the cooler. Simulated as a porous region in ANSYS Fluent with Darcy-Forchheimer coefficients from flow bench testing (viscous 7,387,951.269, inertial 132.358). Target mass airflow 0.060 kg/s, design achieved 0.087 kg/s.
